Dr Nikolaos Antypas is a Lecturer in Finance and Exams Officer for the ICMA Centre Postgraduate Programmes.
He joined the ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, in September 2018. He has a PhD in Finance from the University of Reading (Henley Business School), an MSc degree in Finance from ALBA Graduate Business School, and a BA in Marketing from Athens University of Economics and Business.
He has published his collaborative work on the improvements of acquisition returns due to changes in Corporate Governance in the Journal of Corporate Finance. He also has publications in the European Financial Management and Transportation Research Part E: Logistics and Transportation Review. His research areas include Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, CEO Turnover and Succession, and ESG.
Dr Antypas’ research interests primarily focus on Mergers and Acquisitions, Corporate Governance, CEO related issues, such as performance, turnover and succession planning, and ESG corporate activities. Specifically, he has studied the shift in stock market performance of acquiring firms after the recovery from the financial crisis in 2008; his study highlights improved corporate governance as the main actor of the improved performance.
Dr Antypas also has experience in Executive Education for bulge bracket banks, private equity, boutique advisors, and Big Four auditing firms. He has covered topics on corporate finance, valuation, M&As, and leveraged buyouts, among others.
