Aria (Xiaoying Wu) is a PhD candidate in Corporate Finance, with a research focus on mergers and acquisitions. Her academic supervisors are Dr Mohammad Shehub Bin Hasan and Dr Xi Li, with initial guidance from Professor George Alexandridis.

She holds a BSc in Finance from Anhui University of Finance and Economics in China, an MSc degree in Logistics Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany, an MSc degree in Shipping Finance from the ICMA Centre at the University of Reading and ALBA American College of Greece, all graduated with distinction.

Prior to her academic career, Aria worked for eight years as a Senior Project Manager at a state-owned company in China. During the doctoral research, Aria also has significant teaching experience as a Teaching Assistant. Her teaching portfolio includes modules in the MSc International Shipping, such as: ICM303 Shipping Finance and Investment, ICM283 Economic Modelling and Analysis of Shipping Markets, ICM252 Maritime Economics and Business; and other Finance programs, including: ICM512 Corporate Financial Modelling for Investment Banking, ICM291 Advanced Financial Analysis, ICM252 Strategic Planning and Budgeting, IC102 Introductory Finance and Trading Simulation and IC209 Sustainable Finance.
