City Finance Fair 2013

The City Finance fair 2013 took place yesterday, 10th October in the ICMA Centre Atrium. The event was aimed at introducing specialist organisations to Henley Business School students and was an excellent opportunity for students to expand their knowledge and network of contacts.

Graham Philpott, Career Development Consultant, who organised the event said “It’s so important for students to talk to organisations rather than rely on internet research as Finance is an industry built on relationships. ”

Richard Comotto, Senior Visiting Fellow at the ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, has recently produced a report for the International Capital Market Association’s European Repo Council (ERC) on the impact of the proposed European Financial Transaction Tax. The report, entitled: "Collateral damage: the impact of the Financial Transaction Tax on the European repo market and its consequences for the financial markets and the real economy", is available online from the ICMA website.

Are the employment figures quite as rosy as they seem?

The UK employment and unemployment figures for the period May to July 2017 were announced yesterday and on the surface, the news is very good. The employment rate was 75.3 per cent, the highest since comparable records began in 1971. The number of people unemployed was 1.46 million, with the rate of unemployment being 4.3 per cent.
