George is a Professor of Corporate Finance at the ICMA Centre. He is part of the Business School’s Senior Management team and a member of its Executive committee with a focus on growth, innovation and commercial operations.

George has oversight of Henley’s portfolios of Masters programmes and Post-Experience Open (Non-qual) Executive Education programmes, while he also serves as the Director of strategic projects, spearheading a number of strategic initiatives for Henley. These include foundation and pre-study course offerings, online programmes, the development of a new student experience Hub, global rankings, and the implementation of digital technologies in programme portfolios. More recently, George was also appointed co-Director of Henley Careers, leading the transformation of the service to meet the needs of a diverse student base on employability and the future of work.

George is known as a visionary who constantly challenges the status quo and believes technological disruption and innovation have a key role play in the future of the higher education sector. During his career, he has pioneered several innovations and products aiming at enhancing teaching quality and the student experience. He has a passion for digital transformation and the integration of employability and personal skills in programme curricula, aiming to change how students think about their career development. This philosophy has led to a record 98% employability and 96% programme satisfaction, among Henley Masters’ graduates in 2022, according to the Henley career outcomes survey.

As part of his senior management role, George is a member of several University of Reading committees including the Global Engagement Strategy board and the recruitment and admissions steering group, representing Henley Business School.

In the partnerships space, he has established collaborations with universities and corporate organisations around the world. He also acts as an independent investment advisor while he has appeared as a commentator on financial and political issues on national television and in the press including BBC World, BBC News, Bloomberg, The Financial Times, The Daily Telegraph, LeMonde and The Times. He is an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI) and a fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). He holds a BSc in Business Finance and Economics and an MA in Economics and Finance from the University of East Anglia and an MSc in International Money, Finance and Investment and a PhD in Finance from Durham University.

George is considered a leading authority in the areas of corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions (M&As), corporate governance and corporate social responsibility and has been published extensively in prominent international journals including the Journal of Corporate Finance, Financial Management and Transportation Research. His research has been quoted over 1,500 times (Google Scholar), is frequently presented in major conferences around the globe and has won a number of international awards. George acts as a referee for key Finance journals including Corporate Finance, Financial Management, Journal of Banking and Finance, and European Financial Management, while he has also served as a member of conference programme committees.
